In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.
Name: Mary Williams
Age: 49
From: Essex Junction, Vt.
As someone who was diagnosed with cancer and is a current patient of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, this endeavor is quite personal. It is difficult to be out there and vulnerable but it is by far a greater honor to promote awareness in running with the DFMC team and raise funds for cancer research. I hope to encourage others and support better outcomes for all of us affected by this disease.
