Linnea Drew is running Boston to honor her father
"As someone who lost a father to cancer, and is now in the thick of research into future, and hopefully better, treatments, I am very passionate about this effort."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.
Name: Linnea Drew
Age: 37
From: North Kingstown, R.I.
I am running for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of my dad, who died of melanoma in 2010.
I am also running in honor of the work that the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute does in melanoma research.
I now manage the melanoma clinical trials group and work directly with the physicians who have helped to drastically change melanoma treatment over the past decade.
As someone who lost a father to cancer, and is now in the thick of research into future, and hopefully better, treatments, I am very passionate about this effort.
I am a longtime distance runner but this will be my first Boston Marathon, and I am very excited to do it while raising money for Dana-Farber!
