Jason Perry is running Boston to raise funds for Make-a-Wish
"This marathon is about perseverance and forward movement."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.
Name: Jason Perry
Age: 47
From: Stockton, Calif.
I run for all the children that are battling a life-threatening disease or illness so they can have their heartfelt wish granted. I run for these amazing Wish Children and their families for no child should have to endure what they do.
Each step represents hope for a brighter tomorrow, that each child who wishes will be granted their wish. When the wish comes true, they get to forget about their doctors, their illness and feel like a normal child.
I, myself, have an autoimmune disease that my doctors say should prevent me from running, I run because I want to push the body that I control. So, this marathon is about perseverance and forward movement. We all have challenges and while I face my challenges, I want to help the children of Make-A-Wish so their day is a little brighter.
