Jack Green is running Boston for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
"I can't put into words how grateful I am for everything Dana-Farber has done for our family."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an organization that is near and dear to my heart: In May 2022 my mom, Maura, was diagnosed with breast cancer. We were fortunate to be connected with the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; over the past two years she has received world-class treatment and truly amazing care. And she has received some new cutting-edge medicines that have fundamentally changed breast cancer treatment. My parents said that they are especially grateful for the Dana-Farber center at Milford Hospital.
Rather than having to drive an hour into Boston, most of my mom’s appointments were only fifteen minutes from home. This ease-of-access to the groundbreaking research and treatment has been a blessing to our family. I am running the 2024 Boston Marathon with the Dana-Farber team to say “Thank You” to DFCI. I can’t put into words how grateful I am for everything Dana-Farber has done for our family.
And perhaps more importantly, I am raising money to help fund future research and ensure that every person who receives a cancer diagnosis can have access to the same resources and treatment.
