"I run for those who can't and pull strength from those who are currently in rehabilitation."
In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.
Name: Daniel Meninger
Age: 46
From: Winthrop
I am running in my tenth consecutive Boston Marathon, as a member of the Race for Rehab Team, to help support the patients and programs at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Spaulding helps patients find their strength as they recover from life altering injuries, due to accidents or illnesses, and learn to adapt to the recovery process. As a member of the team, I run for those who can’t and pull strength from those who are currently in rehabilitation and those who have successfully moved through the system.
It is an honor and pleasure to train and run to support the hospital every year.
