Boston Marathon

Cheri Boulanger is running Boston for a beloved patient

"The strongest patient I have ever cared for."

In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston. If you’re running the marathon, you can share your story here.

Name: Cheri Boulanger
Age: 49
From: Ashland

For me, the Boston Marathon is almost as exciting as Christmas Day in our home. We have lived in Ashland (the second town on the route) since 2003 and have watched the marathon nearly every single year since we’ve been here. I have run for different charities in the past but this year is special.

I have dedicated over 20 years of my life to working in the Pedi ICU at MGH and have witnessed incredible resilience of families facing the challenges of cancer. This year I received the most amazing news. I am honored and humbled to be able to run in honor and memory of the strongest patient I have ever cared for who fought a long hard battle with leukemia.

The hematology/oncology clinic will benefit from my fundraising efforts to directly impact the lives of individuals and families battling with cancer. The donations will help provide resources, fund essential medical equipment and support ground breaking research. Please feel free to support my amazing cause.
