In our “Why I’m Running” series, Boston Marathon runners share what’s inspiring them to make the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton to Boston.
Name: Aldie Anderson
Age: 24
From: Boston
I am excited to fulfill my lifelong dream of running the Boston Marathon for The Home for Little Wanderers. After volunteering at The Home with a group of colleagues, I knew this was a special organization and that I wanted to continue volunteering and supporting its mission of better and brighter futures for kids.
Philanthropy and giving back has always been a passion of mine. This began in high school when my classmates and I became involved in cooking and delivering meals to a local shelter. My mom, a marathon runner herself, encouraged me to sign up for my first half marathon to raise money for Upper Valley Haven. Most recently, I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. for Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. I am excited to continue running for a cause with Boston and The Home.
