Since moving to New England 26 years ago, running the Boston Marathon has been a quiet dream of mine. I quickly learned that here, the Marathon is more than just a race — it represents hope, resilience, and the belief that anything is possible if you keep showing up. Watching the crowds line the streets year after year has always felt incredibly special.
For a long time, though, this dream had to wait.
I spent many years as a single mom, focused on raising my children and doing everything I could to keep our lives moving forward. Later, I battled Lyme disease, which made even basic running feel out of reach at times. Between life responsibilities and health challenges, training for a marathon simply didn’t feel possible.
Now, with my son in college and my daughter in kindergarten, I’ve entered a season of gratitude, strength, and renewed possibility. I finally have the time, perspective, and health to work toward a goal I’ve carried in my heart for decades.
I’m honored to be running for the New England Patriots Foundation, whose mission truly reflects what makes this community so special. The Foundation partners with nonprofits that serve underserved communities, supporting education, youth development, health and wellness, and opportunities for families who need it most. Knowing that every mile I run helps support these efforts gives this race meaning far beyond a personal accomplishment.
This marathon is about honoring my younger self, showing my children that it’s never too late to chase a dream, and giving back to a community that has given me so much.
