I am running in the 2026 Boston Marathon with The Brain Aneurysm Foundation in honor of my best friend, Angelle Lozano, who tragically lost her life last year at just 29 years old to a ruptured brain aneurysm.
Angelle was full of life, a fiercely loyal and supportive friend, and always the brightest light in the room. I know everyone says that about the people they love, but with her, it really was true. She laughed the loudest and loved the hardest. I miss her every single day, and this journey of fundraising and training has given me a way to channel my grief into something meaningful.
Throughout this journey, I’ve had countless people tell me about their personal connection to the cause. I’ve learned about parents, siblings, and friends who, like Angelle, passed away far too early because of a brain aneurysm rupture. I also learned that the statistics are staggering. One in 50 people has an unruptured aneurysm; that equals 6.5 million people in the United States. Thirty-thousand people in the U.S. suffer a rupture each year, and half of those do not survive.
Every mile I run will be for Angelle, and every dollar raised will support The Brain Aneurysm Foundation in their mission to improve early detection, advance research, and ultimately change these statistics in hopes for better outcomes for others in the future.
