I am running the Boston Marathon to raise money for MGH and to honor my son, Charles, and his MGH doctor, Ronald Thibert.
Charles has Dup15q syndrome, which causes epilepsy and developmental delays among other things. When my son was diagnosed, we were told Dr. Thibert was the most knowledgeable doctor for his syndrome. At 10 months old, my husband and I boarded a plane from Houston to bring our son to see Dr. Thibert in Boston for the first time. Dr. Thibert has spent the last 14 years helping us navigate this life with epilepsy in a way that no one else could.
I know my son’s quality of life is better because Dr. Thibert cares about his patients and constantly makes individualized recommendations to help improve their lives with epilepsy. He has been one of our biggest blessings on this journey. My son fights seizures on a daily basis and is such a warrior.
I’m so thankful for the privilege of running in Charles’ and Dr. Thibert’s honor to raise money for Massachusetts General Hospital. The care my son has received at MGH has been unmatched. This hospital and everyone who works there holds a special place in our hearts.
