He’s running the Boston Marathon for a camp ‘where illness takes a back seat to fun’

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is an organization that gives children with serious medical conditions the chance to simply be kids, in a medically safe environment.

Name: Griffin O’Neill
Age: 27
City: Boston

I’m honored to be running the Boston Marathon in support of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, an extraordinary organization that gives children with serious medical conditions the chance to simply be kids. At camp, they experience joy, laughter, independence, and friendship in a medically safe environment, completely free of charge. It’s a place where illness takes a back seat to fun, confidence, and unforgettable memories.

This cause is deeply personal to me. My fiancée’s sister, Reagan Carey, was once a camper at Hole in the Wall Gang Camp while facing a rare bone cancer. During an incredibly difficult chapter of her life, camp provided her with a sense of normalcy, strength, and belonging. Today, she has come full circle and now in remission, Reagan serves as a camp counselor, giving back to the same community that supported her when she needed it most.

Running the Boston Marathon is a physical challenge, but it pales in comparison to the strength and resilience shown by the children and families served by this camp every single day. I’m running to honor their courage, to support families navigating unimaginable challenges, and to help ensure that Hole in the Wall Gang Camp can continue changing lives for years to come.

Every donation, no matter the size, helps create moments of joy, hope, and healing for these incredible kids. I’m deeply grateful for your support and will carry it with me every mile, all the way to the finish line.
