My mom, Lisa, and I are running the Boston Marathon for MGH — a humbling honor and privilege.

MGH has been an integral part of our family for over 25 years. My dad has dedicated his career to saving lives and making healthcare better and safer for our collective community. He has cared for patients including those injured by the Boston Marathon bombings and those critically ill from COVID, ensuring care is delivered safely and with compassion. He does not work alone, and this is one opportunity to thank everyone at MGH for caring for our Greater Boston community.

The MGH care team has also impacted us deeply on a personal level when it saved our family’s lives, not once, but several times. They saved my older brother’s life in a moment of crisis when he was born, providing expert care when it mattered most. They also saved my mom’s life when she became gravely ill after the birth of my younger sister. MGH has also played a critical role in helping me manage life-threatening food allergies. Through cutting-edge research, thoughtful treatment and support, the MGH team has enabled me to live confidently. I have also become a teen mentor with the MGH Food Allergy Buddies, educating kids around the region about managing food allergies.

Running the Boston Marathon for MGH is our small way of saying thank you to the institution that has provided our family with so much. Every mile we run honors the incredible providers, staff, educators and researchers who show up every day to save and improve lives around Boston – just like they have done for our family.
