This year, I’m honored to run the Boston Marathon as part of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute team in memory of my dad, Jeff Murray, and my sister-in-law, Grace Orzechowski. Both were treated at Dana-Farber here in Boston, which became a true beacon of hope for our families during incredibly difficult times. We lost Jeff and Grace in 2020, but the care they receive – rooted in cutting-edge research, exceptional physicians, and deep compassion – made a lasting impact on all of us. Supporting Dana-Farber’s continued work is a privilege I hold close.
As I train for my first marathon, my guiding light is my dad, who ran the Boston Marathon in 2018 while actively undergoing cancer treatment. It was one of the most brutal race days in history – cold, pouring rain, and relentless wind. Despite the conditions, he finished with a smile, stopping for selfies with supporters and strangers alike. His strength, resilience, and joy that day put every tough training run into perspective.
I’m deeply grateful for the support along this journey and for everyone helping advance the life-changing work done at Dana-Farber. I can’t wait to honor Jeff and Grace and give it everything I have on race day this spring.
