I am running the 2026 Boston Marathon in memory of my wonderful dad, Warren Behrens. My dad was an incredibly positive man, who rooted for the underdogs, and always saw the silver lining in life. I am lucky to have had him as a role model related to both my professional career and my running hobby.

My dad was a cross-country runner in his high school days. In 2023, my father became seriously ill with liver disease. He fought every day for nearly a year to regain his strength and remain earth-side.

In August 2023, after over 3 full weeks in hospice, he listened to me late one night when I told him his job was done and he could let go. He raised two great kids who knew how to handle life and the crazy things it throws at us.

My father would have loved the fact that I am supporting others affected by liver disease, defects, transplants, and their families. He was a great role model to many: mentoring young people and supporting local charities whose causes had touched him deeply. In his footsteps, I also mentor young people and support charities — such as ALF — so that we can leave some good in this world. I am also an attorney, the current President of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, a mentor at Albany Law School, and highly involved in my community.

My dad would have been totally stoked to see me finish the World Major Marathons, a feat I started in 2016. He supported me throughout this journey. He was especially excited when I told him, before he passed, I had secured a spot in Tokyo 2025. Boston couldn’t be anymore special by running it in honor of my beloved dad.

I strive to be a great role model for my 3-year-old son, who will also be present (with my husband) on race day!
