After running 26.2 grueling miles, Boston Marathon finishers deserve a celebration.
“Boston Marathon, it’s a legend, right? I was really excited about it,” said John Moffat from Salt Lake City, Utah. “It’s been on the bucket list, so when you qualify you can’t pass up the opportunity.”
Popular spots like the Parish Café and The Capital Grille were packed with medal-wearing runners soaking in the moment with food and friends.
Many runners opted for a quieter route, just looking for some quality time with family. Megan Hansen from Virginia just wants to eat with her loved ones after charging through Boston.
“Maybe have a beer and celebrate with my family,” she said.
For some, the celebration was simply a step towards another race. “Next week, I do HYROX Solo Pro. Because I’m not just a runner, I’m a hybrid athlete,” laughed Khalil Grifin, a Boston Marathon finisher.
We spoke with Boston Marathon runners after they crossed the finish line and asked what they’re doing after the race. Read on to find out their answers.

“Maybe rest and have a beer at home and start planning out my next race in the fall. I’ll probably stay in Massachusetts and run the Bay State Marathon.” – David Lund, Cambridge, Massachusetts

“I’ve got an Iron Man in two weeks. Just keep going, working down the list.” – John Moffat, Salt Lake City, Utah

“I have the Valencia Marathon in December and in January 2026 I will be [here again] to do the Disney Marathon. We will do it together, me and my friends and my husband too.” – Marylene Lopes, Avidos, Portugal

“We’re trying to find something to eat. Everywhere here is going to be really really packed but we‘re just trying to get something that’s ‘Boston,’ and nice food.” – Matthew Rogers, Tulsa, Oklahoma
