The most commonly stolen cars in 2014
The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) just released its annual list of the most-stolen cars of the previous year.
NICB looked at vehicle theft data that law enforcement submitted to the National Crime Information Center. The vehicles most often stolen in 2014 included the Honda Accord (51,290 thefts), Honda Civic (43,936 thefts), Ford Pickup Full Size (28,680 thefts), Chevrolet Pickup Full Size (23,196 thefts), and the Toyota Camry (14,605 thefts).
Many of these also fall on the list of the most popular cars in the United States, which helps explain why they’re so accessible to criminals.
But NICB put out a second list, one that looked at the most commonly stolen 2014 model cars, meaning these are the number of people who had their brand new cars stolen.
