Ford Motor Company unveiled a showstopper at the North American International Auto Show on Monday.

The Ford GT is the company’s high-performance supercar. What makes it attract a crowd? Well, how about a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that can get more than 600 horsepower.

The slick-looking GT also has an aerodynamic design that reduces drag while offering stability. It also features a tear-drop shape and curved windshield that improves visibility while reducing drag and optimizing downforce.

The GT is one of more than a dozen Ford Performance vehicles due out by 2020, according to a Ford press release. Other vehicles include the Focus RS, F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT350, and Shelby GT350R.

This is Ford’s first GT in nearly a decade. It is scheduled to go into production next year to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT40’s victory over Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1966.

It could have a price range of around $200,000, said executive chairman Bill Ford. This price puts the GT in the same boat as other supercars like the Lamborghini Gallardo.

“You don’t buy this car for fuel economy,’’ Ford said at the event. “There’s a lot of fuel-saving technology in here, but I’d be lying if I said this was about fuel efficiency.’’
