Traffic Ahead: More Bad News out of Fenway

Between long-term construction on the Mass. Turnpike and ramp closures from Storrow Drive, there are still headaches in store for motorists this week.

Expect more bad news from the Fenway, and this time it’s not because of the Red Sox. The ramp from Storrow Drive eastbound to the Bowker overpass in the Fenway will close from October 6 to October 9 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The closure is related to a repair project to upgrade the structure’s existing bridge deck.

Lane reductions on the Mass. Pike continue to clog traffic, mostly at the Allston-Brighton tolls. Think twice if you’re considering coming into work a little late in a sneaky effort to beat the heavily jammed lanes on the Pike. MassDOT plans left lane closures on the I-90 eastbound between 10 am and 2 pm until Thursday, October 9.

MassDOT has plenty more lane closures planned, including on I-93 northbound and southbound and the Ted Williams and Sumner Tunnels. But there’s good news. These closures will take place later at night and should have a limited impact for most motorists. See MassDOT’s website for more details.
