An Early Look At the New Batmobile

Pull over Chirstian Bale and Michael Keaton, and you other guys. There’s a new Batmobile on the block.

The following image of the Caped Crusader’s notoriously suped-up ride was tweeted last week by “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice’’ director Zack Snyder. If you’re anxiously awaiting the big-screen showdown between DC’s finest heroes (like me), a crumb like this can get you salivating.

This new Batmobile appears to be way more militarized than the wheels Christian Bale’s Batman used to fight the Joker, Bane, and Ra’s Al Ghul in the Christopher Nolan trilogy. The heavy armor look is nothing new to Batmobiles, but practically speaking, it might be tough to turn sharp corners while chasing bad guys with such a wide frame.

Not be a buzzkill, but what’s with the mounted guns? As an avid DC Comics and Batman fan, this doesn’t seem to jibe with Batman’s notoriously anti-firearm reputation. I realize this isn’t the first Batman vehicle from a movie to come equipped with heavy firepower, but this ride looks like it was stolen from the Punisher’s sketchbook (sorry for the Marvel universe reference, fanboys).

And let’s not forget, Batman is taking on a Kryptonian in the next movie, not Two-Face. Unless there are Kryptonite rounds loaded in those guns, they’re about as useless as a pair of fuzzy bat-dice.
