There’s no doubt a luxury car will catch the eye of your friends, colleagues, and everyday passersby. But sadly, car thieves are also among those taking notice of those fancy wheels. The National Insurance Crime Bureau recently reported that 4,384 luxury cars were stolen between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2012. Browse through the gallery and see which vehicle is (literally) the hottest luxury car around.
NICB divided cars into three segments: compact luxury, mid-sized luxury, and premium luxury.
The good news is NICB also reported a recovery rate of 84 percent for luxury vehicles.

10. Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Number of thefts: 163
Premium
Mercedes-Benz had the most spots on this list of stolen luxury vehicles. The model with the lowest number of thefts from 2009 to 2012 was the S-Class, the only premium vehicle on the list.

Number of thefts: 177
Compact
With 177 vehicles stolen, the Lexus IS was the least-stolen compact vehicle on this list.

8. Acura TSX
Number of thefts: 190
Compact
With 190 thefts between 2009 and 2012, the Acura TSX was among the least-stolen luxury cars and was the second-least stolen compact vehicle.

With 226 thefts, the Lincoln MKZ was the least-stolen mid-size luxury vehicle on this list.
