Boston car lovers, gear up for a weekend full of vintage classics

Forty-seven automobiles will be auctioned off at the Revere Hotel on Saturday. One hundred more will be on display during Sunday’s classic car show on the Boston Common.

This weekend, Boston will become a parking lot for a fleet of classic, vintage cars—and a veritable feast for vehicle enthusiasts. On Sunday, the Concours d’Elegance classic car show will take place on the Boston Common, playing host to 100 unique cars selected from hundreds more applications. While this will be the fifth annual show hosted by the Boston Cup, Saturday will mark the inaugural Boston Cup Auction at the Revere Hotel in Copley Square.

Forty-seven fully-restored automobiles, all from decades throughout the 20th century, will be auctioned off, according to a press release.

A sizeable portion of auction inventory hails from the 1950s, an era considered among the most fascinating in American auto design,” per the press release. “Vehicles were designed to reflect high flying missiles with fins, stars, chrome, and dazzle like no other era in history.”

Beyond the 1950s, decades featured will span from the 1930s to the early 1970s.

The car show will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Parkman Bandstand, while the auction at the Revere Hotel will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. There will be an auction preview on Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and a cocktail reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The cars for auction on Saturday can be found on the Dragone Auctions website, and preregistration for the auction is required.
