Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Buy awards in 14 segments
Nearly half the winners are Hondas.
Annually for half a decade, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Auto Show, Kelley Blue Book announces what it thinks are the best new vehicle buys of the model year. Its team of editors evaluates each new car, truck, SUV, and minivan on the market and takes into consideration the following criteria when making its selections:QualityAffordabilityDependabilityComfort/utilityDriving dynamicsCost of ownershipCost of ownership includes several factors, ranging from price competitiveness when the vehicle is new to how well it holds its value when the vehicle is used. Warranty coverage is also a consideration, among other factors.With the consumer preference shift away from cars and toward SUVs, KBB added three new SUV segments for 2019: subcompact SUVs, subcompact luxury SUVs, and compact luxury SUVs. The company also dropped its full-size car category.A Best New Model award is also new for 2019, designed to give consumers guidance about which new or redesigned vehicle is a Best Buy for the year. The winner for 2019 is the Volvo XC40, a new subcompact luxury SUV.Without further ado, the Best Buy winners in several segments:
KBB Best Buy Award Winners: Cars and Minivans
Honda’s popular Civic has won the KBB Best Buy award five years in a row, more than any other car selected for the honor.
This year, Honda wins four of the six KBB Best Buy Awards in the car and minivan segments, reflecting the automaker’s traditional strengths in these categories. In fact, the Honda Civic has won in the compact car segment for five years in a row, every single time since KBB for launched the Best Buy Awards program.
