Check out these 7 luxury SUVs with true four-wheel drive
These luxury vehicles are perfect for camping or taking to Duxbury Beach.
Many luxury SUV buyers seldom require their vehicle to do more than make the daily commute and traverse the mall parking lot. But there are still buyers that require true four-wheel drive.
Perhaps it’s to drive to your remote New England estate, or to drive on the beach (at your remote New England estate). Whatever the reason, there are still high-end SUVs that offer plenty of capability, as well as creature comforts. Read on to learn more about our favorites.
2018 Lincoln Navigator
MSRP: $74,710 (with four-wheel drive)
The Navigator has been completely redesigned for 2018. With this new generation comes a host of refinements, including the latest SYNC infotainment, massaging seats, and the high-end Black Label line.
The Navigator has a twin-turbocharged V6 engine making an impressive 450 horsepower under the hood. It is available with four-wheel drive and a terrain management system with very specific modes, such as Deep Sand, Slippery, and Snow Climb. When needed it has an impressive 103 cubic feet of cargo space, too.
2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class
Price: $123,600
Like the Jeep Wrangler, the G-Class has its roots in military use. The latest model is a far cry from its predecessors, with plush interiors, the latest infotainment updates, and even WiFi hotspot capability.
2018 Land Rover Range Rover
Price: $87,350
The Range Rover has a variety of engine options, including a supercharged V6, a turbo diesel V6, and V8 engines of various output. It also has an adjustable air suspension and a terrain response system, which make it capable of fording into 35.4 inches of water.
The Range Rover offers full-time four-wheel-drive, excellent fender approach angles to all four wheels, and front-, center-, and rear-locking differentials. You can also get it with a twin-turbocharged V12 that makes 621 horsepower.

Few vehicles combine luxury and capability like a Range Rover.
Land Rover Discovery
MSRP: $52,090
With seating for up to seven, the Discovery is the ideal upscale 4×4 family hauler. Stadium seating provides ample visibility for rear-seat passengers, and with the rear seats folded, it has 82.7 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Discovery is available with a gas V6 making 340 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque or a turbodiesel V6 making 254 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. The Discovery also features Terrain Response 2, which adjusts its driving characteristics for road conditions.
2018 Lexus GX
Price: $52,155
The GX comes standard with a 4.6-liter V8 that routes power to standard four-wheel drive. The GX also comes with features like crawl control and a two-speed transfer case with low range.
What sets the GX apart is the innovative Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. It is a circuit of hydraulic piping connecting all four corners of the suspension system. In normal driving, it will keep the GX level, but in off-roading, it can disengage stabilizer bars and optimize the suspension for the trail.

The GX has the capability of a Toyota 4Runner, but in an upscale package.
2018 Toyota Land Cruiser
Price: $84,315
Not a luxury SUV, you say? The $84,000 price tag of the Land Cruiser begs to differ. The Land Cruiser has standard V8 power and the KDSS similar to the Lexus GX, which makes it incredibly powerful and one of the most capable upscale SUVs on the market.
The Land Cruiser has an interior that is opulent enough to wear a Lexus badge, but it has far more retrained styling than its corporate cousin, the Lexus LX.

The Toyota Land Cruiser fetches a high price but has incredible off-road abilities.
2018 Lexus LX
Price: $85,380
The LX comes standard with a V8 engine making 383 horsepower. It routes power to standard four-wheel drive, which is aided by several key systems. Multi-Terrain Select provides drive modes including Rock, Rock & Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock, and Mud & Sand.
The LX also has Crawl Control, which features a turn-assist system that applies brakes to the inside wheel of a turn for a tighter cornering radius.
