When I start my car, the radio and sometimes the car information screen doesn’t work. If I turn off the car and restart, they usually work. Sometimes the iPhone turns on and off without being prompted. I think that my iPhone appears to be connecting during this starting interval. What is the problem, and how do I fix it? A. I checked for Honda’s technical service bulletins regarding this issue and didn’t find anything. Some owners have solved the problem by plugging in an Apple lightning cable, and some also cautioned against using an off-brand cable. In my experience, as good as Apple CarPlay is, it’s far from perfect in every application. At this point, make sure your phone operating system is the latest version and the car has the most updated software, then work with the dealer until you are satisfied.John Paul is AAA Northeast’s Car Doctor.
