Do I have to use Lexus parts for routine maintenance, such as oxygen sensors, or can I use a quality replacement? What about fluids, such as transmission and coolant? A.The answer is both yes and no. For sensors and other critical parts, use the factory part or a manufacturer that makes the factory part. You will find that many parts stores and websites list the parts as manufactured by the original equipment supplier. As for the fluids, some are specific to Toyota/Lexus products, such as the transmission fluid, so use only Toyota fluid. When it comes to antifreeze, the recommendation is Toyota Long-life coolant or equivalent.
