A former city councilor in New Hampshire is combatting speeding in his own way
Harold Whitehouse drives a “self-established pace car” to slow traffic.
A former Portsmouth, New Hampshire, city councilor is going the extra mile — literally — to take on speeders.
Harold Whitehouse, now a member of the city’s Parking and Traffic Safety Committee, has made himself the “self-established pace car” in Portsmouth, according to a Seacoastonline.com report. He drives his “little green station wagon” outfitted with an “I am your pace car, I live here” bumper sticker at or just above the speed limit to slow traffic, and takes the long way home.
“Sometime cars back up behind me but that’s OK,” he said.
Whitehouse brought a dozen of the bumper stickers to a recent committee meeting.
