Madeline Bilis
Madeline Bilis is a freelance journalist, editor, and guidebook author. She’s been covering Boston — and New England at large — since 2014, when she began reporting and writing for Boston magazine. She often writes about real estate, travel, and design, and will always defend the beauty of the city’s brutalist buildings. Madeline is a graduate of Emerson College, where she studied journalism. She was previously an editor at Boston magazine, Travel + Leisure, and Apartment Therapy. Her writing has also appeared in the Wall Street Journal, TIME, Thrillist, Architectural Digest, Real Simple, Time Out Boston, Realtor.com, and other outlets.

Madeline was awarded the Victoria Snelgrove Award for Journalism Ethics for setting high standards for ethical journalism in her work. As real estate editor at Apartment Therapy, she won a bronze award in the Best Interior Design Story category from the National Association of Real Estate Editors for a piece about the origins of the banker’s lamp, as well as a bronze award in the Best Multi-Platform Series category for a digital package called “Suburbs Week.”
