John Waller is a deputy editor overseeing news coverage on Boston.com. In addition to daily breaking news and enterprise, John is passionate about quirky New England stories that highlight the unique character and history of the region. He edits Boston.com’s “Wickedpedia” series, and he started at the site in 2015, the morning after Malcolm Butler’s Super Bowl XLIX-clinching interception.
John was previously a local editor at Patch.com in Massachusetts, a full-time freelance journalist, and a staff writer at the Bennington Banner in Vermont. He is a Lexington native and Colby College graduate.

Boston.com won 68 New England Better Newspaper Competition awards from 2020-2023, including four first-place awards for Best Overall Website and three first-place awards for General Excellence. Previously, John won a regional award for deadline news writing and was named the region’s Rookie of the Year in 2008.
